Dr. Mirza A. Khan has an Honours degree in Physiology from Oxford University. After clinical training at Middlesex Hospital, London he qualified MA, BM, BCh in 1972 and passed the MRCP (UK) in 1974.
After house posts in and around London including the Middlesex Hospital, he began his Neurology training at the National Hospital for Nervous diseases (now Neurology and Neurosurgery), Queen Square, London in 1975-76 as Senior House Officer and Registrar, and was subsequently Registrar and Senior Registrar in Neurology and Neurophysiology at the Regional Neurology Centres, Brook Hospital, London and North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary, Stoke on Trent between 1976-1980.
Since 1981, he has been Honorary Consultant Neurologist at Prince Aly Khan and Saifee Hospitals, Mumbai and has been on the Consultant panel at Breach Candy Hospital since 1995.
His special interests have been Neurophysiology and Neurorehabilitation. He started Neurophysiology departments at Prince Aly Khan Hospital in 1995 and Breach Candy Hospital in 1997, and a Neurorehabilitation Unit at Prince Aly Khan Hospital in 2011.
He is currently Co-ordinator, Neurology and Head, Neurophysiology Department, Breach Candy Hospital, and Head, Neurosciences Department of Saifee Hospital, Mumbai.
He is Life Member of the Indian Academy of Neurology, Neurological Society of India, World of Federation of Neurorehabilitation, Indian Federation of Neurorehabilitation, and the Bombay Neurosciences Association which honoured him with a Lifetime Award in 2019.
He was Convenor of the Standards & Ethics committee, member of the Executive Committee and Invitee on the Board of Prince Aly Khan hospital for several years, and was awarded a Lifetime Service Award by the hospital in 2000. He has been a member of the Medical Committee, Breach Candy Hospital in the past.
